For Dirk, his sisters had paved the way before him. The many road trips to visit them and the students that he met during those visits sealed his decision.
During the years that followed, the investment continued for the both of us. Whether it was through scholarships, the professors, even the administration, including Dr. Fletcher (president at the time), we knew that we were loved and cared for. The encouragement that we were given as students allowed us to find areas of service at the university. We both went on to be very involved in Student Congress, Student Foundation and serve as Junior and Senior Class Presidents of our respective classes. I was also very active in my sorority, Phi Phi Phi, and Dirk in his fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega as well as being an HSU Cheerleader.
It was at HSU that Dirk and I met and fell in love. Two of our three children are HSU graduates, a continued investment! We feel so very blessed that we can all share our love for HSU together. It is because of our faith and the investments made in our children and in us that we want to continue this legacy of investment.
God calls us to use our gifts, talents and our finances to further His kingdom. In doing so, we are the ones who truly receive the blessing! Great or small, the size of the gift does not matter. It is what our gifts together can do to further the mission of HSU.
We truly believe that God has great things He desires to accomplish through Hardin-Simmons, and we have the incredible opportunity to join Him in His work there. It is for these reasons and so many more why we give to HSU. Investing in HSU is not only an investment in the future of the
